Osheaga's Most Anticipated #30 - Freelance Whales

To kick off the official countdown for Osheaga's most anticipated up first we have American Indie Rock band from Queens, New York, Freelance Whales. The more I listen to them the more I want to move them up my list but the order of things doesn't matter too much so ah well. If you can think of a combination of Bon Iver, Death Cab, Beirut, Mumford and Sons, and Starfucker then you've arrived at Freelance Whales. Their music rings out bright summer days, being happy, nostalgia, and sunsets. It's like synth meets folk kind of indie rock which gives them a very unique sound. This is definitely not your jump up and down bright happy Indie Rock band though, this is your chill out and get goosebumps from the tunage kinda band. The thing I love about their album 'Weathervanes' is they aren't afraid to throw in a couple instrumentals here and there. They only have one album as of now with their sophomore coming out this year (most likely before Osheaga), so if you like what you hear then go cop it! Here are my favourite Freelance Whales tunes...
