Channel Orange - Frank Ocean

Today marks the day that Frank Ocean dropped his new album 'Channel Orange' with critics buzzing over it it's safe to say this is going to be one of the better albums to drop this summer. This album comes out a week after Frank dropped a tumblr post about the love he shared for another man declaring himself bisexual and generating even more buzz for the album release. Described as 'psychedelic soul' and reminiscent of 70s late night radio slow jams it's a perfect summer record. Frank adds in 40 second long tape damaged tracks throughout the album to give somewhat of a homemade feel to the album which I absolutely love. He upgrades 'Thinkin Bout You' with sweet strings and it features previous releases in the nearly 10 minute long tale about a stripper 'Pyramids' and the recently dropped 'Sweet Life' which features production from Pharrell. Frank has a couple guests on tracks with a nice jazzy instrumental in 'White' which features John Mayer, a nice sleepy rap from Earl Sweatshirt on 'Super Rich Kids' and a classic Andre 3000 swoon on 'Pink Matter'. 'Bad Religion' is the beautiful song of the album as he has a makeshift therapy session with a taxi driver about his secret (his sexuality) that he can't hold back, he performed this on Jimmy Fallon last night with The Roots and it sent shivers down my spine. I won't run through the entire album, you can stream it on his tumblr or buy it on iTunes so i'll post my favourites (Pyramids excluded because I posted it a few weeks ago), enjoy...
