1999 - Joey Bada$$

When NAS said Hip Hop Is Dead he clearly wasn't looking hard enough, this new trend has been coming through of young rap crews a la the influence of Wu Tang. First it was the Odd Future movement, next ASAP Mob but my new favourite (Still love Odd Future) is this ProEra group. I stumbled upon them the other day and it just happened their most talented member "Joey Bada$$" was releasing a mixtape today and my god i am impressed. It seems that majority of these young rap groups aren't really influenced by that classic old school 90's Hip Hop, the golden age of the genre without a doubt. Talent wise out of ASAP/Odd Future i'd say Earl Sweatshirt is most definitely the most talented rapper followed by Domo Genesis with Tyler and Hodgy lingering along the outside (Sorry ASAP, love your music but your rapping is just shit). Now comes along Joey Bada$$, same age as Earl talent levels are fairly similar, this mixtape is incredible with Joey rapping over MF Doom, J Dilla, Lord Finesse beats along with production from his own crewmembers. Perfect mix of aggression (Survival Tactics) to chill (Don't Front), Hip Hop is not Dead Nas it's right here. I added in my favourite 5 songs off the mixtape and i'll link the download link at the bottom as it is for free, enjoy...
