EOWT Vol.28

First of all I wanna start off by apologizing, it's almost been a month since my last blog post but I've been super busy with movie and school stuff but I'll make it up to you all with a great post. We've also past our 1st year anniversary without realizing, most blogs renovate their whole site but I think we'll give that one a miss for now (one day...). First song is my favourite song by far right now from Swedish chill wave artist David Alexander, the lo-fi guitar riffs with the faded reverby vocals give such a dreamlike quality to the song. Next up is a dubstep artist I stumbled upon who goes by the name of Bronze Whale, he keeps the wobbles fairly simple and toned down which is exactly what I like to hear in dubstep. Next up is an absolute major guilty pleasure song on my part but I'm absolutely loving it, and yes that is the new Wiz Khalifa/The Weeknd colab. After that i've got two tunes that your gonna wanna boogie to, Lovers by Brothertiger and a Todd Terje remix of Hot Chip that brings back that summer disco/house feel. Lastly some chill wave from Blackbird Blackbird (as you can tell i've been in a chill wave phase recently), enjoy..

Osheaga's Most Anticipated #8 - The Weeknd

Toronto bred R & B singer Abel Tesfaye otherwise known as The Weeknd has shot up to stardom in the past couple years through collaborations with Drake forming the OVOXO crew. Abel's new take on R & B is much more haunting and dark than any sort of Chris Brown song and sex and drugs are quite often, if not always the theme. His beats are very ambient and slowed down which matches his style perfectly, enjoy..

Osheaga's Most Anticipated #16 - Florence + The Machine

One of the big headliners for the event I'll give a comparison from last year's lineup to Ellie Goulding. I don't really listen a lot to her original music but the remix treatment done on her songs are absolute gold. It seems to be the trend if you're at a festival with an artist who you've remixed that you drop that remix (last year Bassnectar dropped his Ellie Goulding remix for 'Lights') and it so happens to be that a decent amount of artists that are at Osheaga have remixed Florence (The Weeknd, Yeasayer, etc.). Her voice is extremely powerful and it shows in songs like 'Never Let Me Go' and 'Shake It Out' , enjoy...

Your End Of Weekend Tunes Vol.18

Apologies for the lack of posts in the past week and a bit i've been ratha ill but this post will make up for it. First up we got an awesome electro hip hop/future garage tune from Hermitude. Brand new remix from Bondax which is absolutely killer with vocal samples to die for, Pyramids by Odd Future crooner frank ocean is a 9 minute song in the same vain as The Weeknd almost drifting into a completely different song half way through (Part 2 is my favourite). The blog world has been abuzz with Ellie Goulding's cover of The Weeknd's 'High for This' produced by Chitty Bang's Xaphoon Jones and it lives up to its name. Next is the band 'Chairlift' who are signed to Young Turks the same record label as The xx, SBTRKT, and John Talabot. This song could have come straight out of the 80's with its catchy, synthyness in the same vain as Billy Idol. Final song this week is The Naked and Famous' epic remix of M83's Reunion that could be dropped in any action sports movie and it would fit perfectly, enjoy...

Cralias

I know little about Cralias, but from what I know he makes wicked ass remixes and for the past week i've been absolutely obsessed with his album 'Bootlegs' (free download, click link). His sound is very different to anything i've heard before with a mix of future garage, glitch, and hip hop. I know he's a huge fan of the Weeknd as many garage producers seem to be (three remixes of The Weeknd on his album), his remixes of The Week. Keep an eye out for this mysterious fellow he's gonna be big very soon....

OVOXO Nigguh

Kk, so either your heads up your ass, or you don't listen to the radio(or you've got something against Canadians?), if you haven't heard at least this first song. OVOXO is a gang of musicians/thugs? from Toronto. It comprises mostly of Drake, and Abel Tesfaye(aka The Weeknd) and their crew.

Drake - Headlines

Started not to give a fuck, and stopped fearing the consequences. I can relate... A sick track, and his flow matches perfectly. I don't care if you hate Drake(I used to too), his new stuff is fly.

Now, I don't know what would compel someone to tattoo anyone's name on them, but ugh the songs dope... Rick Ross = The Boss.

By far the best song on his most recent mixtape called Thursday. If you don't dig his diva-flow skip to 5:12 when Drake comes in. I can't tell you how much I dig this verse; Lips so French, ass so Spanish, she don't really like attention, I don't know if she gon manage out here.
